Tsukiji Fish Market

Tsukiji Fish Market5:30am at the world famous Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo, Japan.  The market is full of workers delivering  fish  from incoming fisherman to outgoing vendors.

It is an extremely fast-paced environment that is not built around tourism, but rather built for extreme efficiency.  These workers are operating at such a pace that it makes me wonder how nobody gets hurt.

I couldn’t help but to feel in the way. However, I definitely wasn’t the only one.  The market was crawling with tourists.  And, in fact the Tsukiji Fish Market itself is surrounded by hundreds of little shops that encircle the market.

It is a maze of shops and alleys that is crowded with vendors, supplies and tourists all merging in and out of intersections. And an amazing sight to behold

This is the best place to get fresh seafood, as only a couple of hours ago it was still in the ocean, and here, in Tsukiji, you can get sushi for breakfast at 7am. And it is great.

So, even though this is a tourist magnet, I would definitely recommend it. Just keep your eyes open and be safe. Don’t get in the way of the Japanese efficiency. I don’t believe they care much about lawsuits here. Go at your own risk.
